Over the years I have designed many javascript / dhtml / html5 games. My games are designed to look as if they could have been made in the 1980s.
My game design history goes back to the early 1980s using the technology available at the time. In 2001, I started making games in Javascript -- an unusual decision considering that Flash was, in those days, deemed to be the best platform for browser-based games. And, indeed, it was wonderful. However, I chose Javascript to avoid the complication of browser plugins.
I use a Javascript game library that was originally designed by Scott Porter (back in 1999/2000). Over the years I have modified the engine to suit my needs -- for example, by including the canvas element for HTML5 game development. I have also made some games using Phaser. But mostly I prefer to use the engine that I've been building upon over the years.
My intention is to build a small presence here on itch.io to showcase some of my early arcade-style games, which (amazingly) still run after all these years. Back in the day (I'm talking Internet Explorer 4 days!!!) I figured that as browser technology advanced, my old JS games would stop working. I did go to great effort to future-proof them, which seems to have worked (except that the sound on some of them no longer works).
In addition to my old games, I will also include some recent work.
